Bunny Buddy

Jett's first Easter was a success! I really think it was one of the funnest weekends with him. I was so excited about playing Easter Bunny that I pretty much had his basket of goodies ready for weeks. And the part I was super excited about? Passing on my ducky Easter basket to him! And by that I mean the ducky basket that I bought myself in college...yup, in college. This was not my childhood basket that I used growing up like my dad somehow seems to think (he gave Jett the speech of "your mommy used this when she was little and has been saving this for you"). No, this duckling gem came from beloved Target in St. George during a spring break getaway back in the days. Don't ask why I felt the need to buy it...some people buy tequila shots in Mexico for spring break, I buy a toddler Easter basket in St. George.

I definitely wanted Jett to do an Easter egg hunt for the first time because he can pick up things, and eggs are a perfect size for his little chubber hands to grab. I originally had planned for us to go to Thanksgiving Point's egg hunt but after weighing the pros (fun experience, farm animals to see afterwards) and cons (admission ticket price, lame candy that we won't eat) I decided to skip the profesh one and just do our own at home. It was great! I scattered a dozen plastic eggs around in our front yard (only filling a few with Jolly Rancher jelly beans for me to eat so I wouldn't feel bad leaving them all empty...plus the shaking noise would be exciting for him) and Jake was the helper while I recorded their hunt and took pictures.
Jake would trot Jett along the grass and then plop him down in front of an egg and set the ducky basket nearby, and then babykins would do a great job picking up the egg. He'd carefully examine it, shake it excitedly, put it in his mouth to slobber on, and then would focus on maneuvering it to the basket when we'd tap on it and show him to drop it in. Then of course mom and dad would break out into loud clapping and cheers of praise when the egg would make it into the ducky, and he'd look up surprised at us like, "What just happened?" You did, Buddy Roo! Your cuteness just happened! Aaaand repeat, onto the next egg...

After Jett's egg hunt we went back inside the house where his official Easter basket of goodies was waiting for him. He immediately starting investigating and pulling things out to stick in his mouth, while I quickly slapped on his fuzzy bunny ears for picture after picture...giggling the whole time and loving it! UHHH-DORBS!! Even now I just instantly laugh when I see the pictures. Jake initially rolled his eyes at the bunny ears until he saw how hilarious they were on Jett, and even my dad later made a comment that Jett's going to be upset with me for those pictures. Oh, men...so insecure. Pwecious baby can have pwecious pictures with wabbit eaws!
Jett's basket included big boy sippy cups, a stuffed Nemo rattle toy, Finding Nemo plastic bib, Nike shirt and basketball shorts, gray crib sneakers, The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh DVD, vibrating pully bug, mini fuzzy duckling Beanie Baby (from Grandma & Grandpa Jones), and an alphabet book of Scripture heroes. Whew! I'd say the Easter Bunny did well.

We had such a fun Easter and the fun continued through Sunday when we went to my parents' house for a delicious prime rib dinner, complete with each of us getting a See's Candies egg. Oh my yum! Everybody loved Jett's bunny pictures and we even took his ducky basket up with us so he could play with his eggs some more and have fun dumping them out and scattering them all over. Cheap entertainment, and he loves it!

Jett's Homies

When Jett arrived in September, he came with a great addition...baby friends! A few friends of Jake's and mine were expecting and/or already recently had babies, and now Jett's been getting to meet them! It's been fun watching him interact and stare at someone his own size, and I can't wait for play dates when all the kids are a bit older. Let's meet the gang...
Here is Wesley! Our good friends Ricky and Amy made one cute, smiley kid with curly hair...and apparently the next Captain America. He is 1.5 yrs old, and got to see Jett over the weekend. In our Lehi friend group, Wesley was the first to be born followed by Jett, so they are the "older and wiser" ones. These two will be best buddies and there's sure to be lots of laughs!
Here's another pic with Wesley from several weeks ago with Wesley's cousin Dean who was one month away from turning 1 yrs old. Our friends Steve and April live in California, so we don't get to see them much, but we were sure happy to snap a picture of the boys together.
Little Claire was the next baby born after Jett in our Lehi friend group and the first girl. She was just a tiny newborn here when Jett got to go visit her around New Years. We thought it was so adorable they decided to hold hands for our photoshoot...or play rock, paper, scissors with Jett dominating as paper. I will sometimes refer to Claire as Jett's girlfriend. I am also happy to know that parents Clayton and Shea said they rarely call Claire by her name and usually resort to nicknames. I'm not alone!
And last but not least, here is Jett and Trace after their adventure to the Living Planet Aquarium last Friday. Trace was born 11 days before Jett, so I keep in touch with my friend Sami to compare baby updates since our boys are usually on the same page. That's been so nice and helpful to have a friend at the same baby stage! We kept in touch during our pregnancies, too. Finally, after 7 months, our boys got to meet! As you can see, Trace was exhausted after...Jett just wanted to eat his blanket.

The last baby in our Lehi friend group is Winston! Jett hasn't met him yet (or me) but will get to soon for Winston's blessing day. I'm looking forward to having our 4 Lehi baby friends together for the first time and sure hope I can get some good pics of all of them.

The Great Outdoors

Jetty Jettson has been on several outdoor adventures, with more sure to come now that the weather is getting warmer, brighter, and sunshinier...sure makes me a happy camper! There's something about being outside that makes Jett look extra cute, so of course I get snap-happy. Here's some outdoor activities we've done...
Here we were going out for a stroller ride on the bike path next to our house (that's sure nice to have!). Jett enjoys his stroller and usually doesn't make a peep when we trek along...he's also been known to fall asleep on more than one occasion. Must be comfy! Along the path, there's horses that we'll stop and visit but he doesn't give off much of a reaction. I think he'll be more excited about the "horsies" as he gets older.
Next we had a blanket outing on the front lawn while Jake and Gage planted tulips we bought. Jett didn't like how bright it was outside (even though it was overcast) and kept his eyes closed if I laid him on his back, so I put him on his tummy to help avoid the sun and that seemed to be ok with him. Then when it started getting a bit more cold and breezy, blanket snuggle time with mom!
And lastly, Jett got to try a swing at the park for the first time. Look at him! Eee! The diaper swing was a bit big so we padded him in it with a blanket. I think he'll definitely enjoying the swing as he gets older, but at the moment I think it was more fun for me than him.

My sweet boy! ♥

Alas, Utah Weather...

Just summing up this week so far...
